Airport Makeover in Linz

ATP Vienna is awarded a framework contract for the phased remodeling of Linz Airport

Gastro design – Haute cuisine for the eyes
As part of the negotiation procedure ATP Vienna and several other well-known architectural offices were asked to perform a sample task. This reference project involved the regeneration of the airport restaurant area that has been closed for several years. The Vienna teams led by partner and Head of Design Dario Travaš and the architect Heinz Lindner were able to convince the jury with a design that provides an appropriate answer in both spatial and functional terms. On the upper floor they proposed a modern multifunctional gastronomic design that reacts flexibly to changing demands during the year. In future, this level will thus be a “market place” for Upper Austrian products and specialties as well as a congress center. “The important thing for us was to emphasize the classic, clean architectural language of the 1970s. The newly designed food court supports the design vocabulary of the existing building and creates new accents that draw the visitors to this upper floor”, says Travaš. “And with the elliptical food balcony over the entrance hall and the new food terrace with its view of the apron we have done this successfully.”

“Ready for take-off”
As a result of its response to this sample task, ATP Vienna was commissioned with the phased realization of the remodeling and refurbishment of the freight and passenger terminals at Linz Airport. Integrated design work was scheduled to start in March 2020.
